The motto of the Catawba Basketball Team is "to be"! Over the years the motto has become "2B©". We talk about "being" rather than "having". We live in a world in which everyone wants "to have". To have money, a nice car, a cell phone, to be the man!
We believe if you work and strive "to be", to be the best, to be a good person, to be responsible, you will "have" all you need. If you study the lives and careers of the very best in life, sports, business, the quality that is common to all of them is they want "to be" the best at what they do! By working and striving "to be" they have all they want. The "having" is a by product of "being".
We have the words "to be" above our locker room door. The players tap the words each time they go in and out the locker room. We have included the logo "2B©" on our camp t-shirts, our championship rings and watches. The words continue to remind us to work and strive "to be" in all we do!
